Disappointed by the limited success of the original 510's replacement, the fat and weird looking 610, Datsun redesigned the body and brought back the storied nameplate in hopes to drum up a few more sales. Yes, it had the quad headlights and the little design element on the C-Pillar. But the similarities with the first-gen ended there. It may have been ok for a cheap economy car, but 510 it was not. This second-gen, which, because of their unpopularity, are rarer than the first-gen cars, has managed to hang onto its original hubcaps.
