1970 Ford Maverick

The Ford Maverick was introduced in 1970 as Ford's compact, replacing the Falcon, and intended to battle the imports. However, someone forgot to tell the designers, as the Maverick was only available at first as the two-door fastback shown here, making the backseat unusable for many. The standard engines were ridiculously small and slow six cylinders, though by 1971 a 302 V8 was available. This Maverick seems to be going for a drag racer look with the oversize rear tires and hoodscoop.
